Why Comic Contracts?

Why Comic Contracts?

We live in a market economy and we need to sign contracts if we want to have a job, a place to stay, services, insurance, a bank account, a loan, or send our children to school, …the list goes on. Or, as expressed by the winners of the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2016: “Contracts are essential to the functioning of modern societies”

But, contracts always seem to be documents “written by lawyers for lawyers.” They are dense, complex and hard to read if you are very literate, and nearly impossible if you have low literacy skills.

That is why we want to make contracts that everyone can understand.

We believe this will guide the behaviour of both parties in order to have a successful relationship and reduce disputes.

We also believe that no one should be made to suffer the indignity of being presented with a contract that they must sign but cannot understand.

How? By using pictures.

This will really help us convince the young people, you know, so many of them didn’t get vaccinated. They will like this.

The sister said we should spread the word about the COVID, but how could we have done it? We can use this now.

Legal contracts are promoted to protect vulnerable people, yet many can’t understand what they are signing.

We live in a world that consists of individuals with different literacy levels. But the one thing we have in common is that we are all able to understand an image. Visual communication has the ability to easily communicate across all literacy levels to help everyone understand their contracts.

It is time for us to think outside the “text-only” box and explore new ways of communicating.
